These meetings are called voting precinct caucuses. The precinct, being the smallest political unit in Utah, meets to elect precinct officers as well as state and county delegates to represent their precinct at the state or county conventions. Here these delegates of the people decide which candidates for political office will run in the general election. Having small, grass root groups like this guarantees a direct line from citizen to candidate. Every voice can be heard in Utah’s caucus/convention system. You, the citizen, can choose to play an influential role in ‘government of the People, by the People, and for the People’ by helping to elect your representatives or by serving in an elected or volunteer capacity yourself.

This year, the Republican Party caucus night will be held Thursday, March 15, 2012, at 7:00 p.m.  Look for more information by the end of January.
